POLICE have blamed “mindless vandalism” after a spate of shop windows were smashed in Darlington town centre over the weekend.
Several windows of business premises and other properties were damaged along High Row and Prebend Row between Friday, July 8, and Sunday, July 10.
The criminal damage across the town centre will see property owners foot the bill, however officers dealing with the incident have promised to find the individual or group behind the vandalism.
Darlington Police’s PC Shaun King said: “The damage appeared to be down to mindless acts of vandalism and those responsible will be dealt with robustly.”
PC King has personally appealed for anyone with information on the incident to contact him in Darlington via non-emergency number 101, quoting incident reference 0900, of Friday, July 8.
