AN alleged stabbing in Bishop Auckland is being investigated by police.

A police spokesman confirmed they are currently investigating an assault that occurred on a man in Princes Street, shortly before 6pm yesterday (Thursday, April 14).

The victim, a 35-year-old local man, received treatment at Darlington Memorial Hospital for hand and facial injuries although his injuries are not life-threatening.

The spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing but investigators do not believe the incident was a random attack.”
