A MAN was threatened at knifepoint before being assaulted and robbed of a large amount of cash in Stockton.

The 32-year old was walking along the footpath leading from Spennithorne Road to the cycle path that runs alongside Grangefield Road, when he was threatened at knifepoint by the man who demanded cash.

The incident happened on Wednesday, January 27 at about 7.50pm.

Police said the suspect and the victim had a brief altercation which left the victim with minor injuries. He then handed over a "large amount" of cash and the suspect made off towards Askrigg Road.

He is described as being white, about 5ft 10ins tall, of slim to medium build and wearing dark clothing, including a blue glove on his right hand, which he used to carry the knife.
