A MAN collapsed after he and three others are alleged to have fled the scene of a road accident.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the two-vehicle crash in North Shields.
"At 9am on Saturday, September 19, police received a report from the ambulance service of a collision involving a Citroen C4 Picasso and a Peugeot 206 on Waterville Road," said a spokesman for Northumbria Police.
"There was one man in the Citroen and he has been taken to the RVI hospital to be checked over.
"Officers believe there was three or four men in the Peugeot. All fled the scene before police arrived however one of the men collapsed and was taken to hospital for treatment."
Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference number 379 19/09/15.
