THREE cars were set on fire in Sunderland.

Between 3am and 3.10am on Monday, May 11, two cars - a Peugeot 2008 and a Mercedes - were set on fire while parked in Villette Brook Street.

"Around 4.30am the same morning, a silver Nissan Almera parked in Cairo Street was also set on fire," said a spokeswoman for Northumbria Police.

"All three vehicles suffered serious damage, however no-one was injured.

"The fires are being treated as arson and police are appealing for witnesses."
