CHILDREN can enjoy a swimming pool’s new inflatable for free on Friday (February 19).

Youngsters aged eight to 15 can use the 20m-long inflatable at Durham County Council's Freeman’s Quay leisure centre, Durham City, for free between 2pm to 3pm.

It was bought with help from Durham Area Action Partnership (AAP) and after families said they would like to see the reintroduction of an inflatable, which Freeman’s Quay had been without for several years.

The inflatable allows children to race side by side on two tracks and will be used during school holidays.

New rafts and floats have also been purchased, which will be used for weekly public sessions.

Places for Friday’s free session must be booked in advance by calling 03000-268-488.

As a result, there will be no public swimming available at Freeman’s Quay during the hour.
