UNEXPLAINED lights in the sky prompted a flurry of calls to Durham Police over potential UFOs.
A force spokesman said it had been "inundated with calls from members of the public concerned at the sightings of unidentified flying objects which were lighting up the night sky" between 11pm and 11.30pm on Friday night.
He added: "Inquiries reveal that the origins of the activity was a meteor shower which was evident across the whole of the North of England."
