A CYCLIST has been taken to hospital with head injuries after falling from his bike during an evening ride.

Emergency services were called to woods around Guisborough earlier this evening, following reports that a man had come off his bike.

Search and rescue teams were called to help the man from the wood into Hutton Village, and he was taken by road ambulance to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough.

The alarm was raised at about 8.10pm this evening.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Fire Brigade said: "One appliance from Guisborough Fire Station and assisted the patient, giving first aid."

More information about the man's condition is not currently known.
