THE EuroPro Tour will return to Hunley Hall Golf Club for a second year in a row next week and tournament organisers are predicting a few stars of golfing's future will be gracing their greens.

After the visit to Northumberland's Longhirst Hall a fortnight ago, the Tour will arrive back at Hunley, where more than 2,000 golf lovers turned up to watch the action 12 months ago.

The hilltop course, near Saltburn, North Yorkshire, recently appointed director of golf, Richard Weeks, and he said: "We're delighted the EuroPro Tour is coming back. It's a chance for the region's golf fans to see the stars of the future on September 11-14 as the EuroPro Tour is packed with players looking to break through on to the main European Tour in the future."

Weeks went on to state he hoped to improve on last year's showing, claiming the monetary prize on offer will make it an interesting spectacle.

Weeks said: "Last year's inaugural event attracted a crowd of nearly 2,000 on the final day, something which we hope to see increase this year. The players will be competing for a top prize of £10,000 and the tournament will be screened on Sky Sports."

There are increased sponsorship opportunities for the main tournament as well as the Pro-Am competition which will open proceedings, acting as a curtain-raiser.

Weeks also expressed the chance for some of the North East's local professionals to mingle with some of Europe's best. He said: "We're hoping to get a lot of local and regional businesses involved. It's an excellent opportunity for local professionals to join up with one of the tournament players for an exciting days golf and also the opportunity for local businesses to talk and network throughout the day and evening dinner."

It's set to be an exciting few weeks on the tour as there is bound to be some intense competition between players for the final event before the Tour Championship, making it something of a coup for the North-East to host.

The top five players on the order of merit at the end of the season will advance on to the European Challenge Tour, making the event on the Morgans Course at Hunley, near Saltburn, pivotal.

Facilities at Hunley Hall have recently been improved, with the 28 bedroom hotel and bar, as well as the pro shop all recently refurbished.

The club has also stated that a complete makeover of the upstairs restaurant will be completed soon. As a result, the event promises to be an eventful and enjoyable occasion for all who attend.
