ESH WINNING go into the history books after winning the Durham County League for the fourth time in 11 seasons. The summer’s outstanding performers will be the last champions of this competition which is now being disbanded as clubs go their separate ways into two new leagues.
Esh celebrated as they carried off the silverware at the expense of their closest rivals, Willington, who had been expected to give them a close game to bring down the curtain.
But they failed to do themselves justice, finishing 37 points behind as runners-up.
Esh won by ten wickets after John Carmedy (83 not out) and David Lawlor (50 not out) showed the power they will take into the new Durham League.
