Saturday’s Durham Coast League programme Murton held their nerve as they battled out a drawn finish with Dawdon, who fell short of victory by 15 runs with wickets in hand.

There were victories, though, for both Seaham sides, Park and Harbour, and for Silksworth.

Boldon and Hylton drew.

In yesterday’s second round of matches Murton returned to winning ways with a seven wicket mauling of Ryhope, Dave Hanson (3-4) and Aidan Vout (57 from 41 balls) their leading performers, but they couldn’t shake off Seaham Park who made it two wins in two days when they overcame Peterlee by seven wickets to remain 12 points back in second.

Dawdon continue to threaten the top two and made quick work of Bill Quay despite a half century from Jeff Tudor.

Thomas Spinks (4-8 in 7 overs) and skipper Stephen Gale (67no) were the Dawdon kingpins. The day’s best came from Easington who routed champions Boldon CA for 49 with Jordan Wilson (4- 11) spearheading the destruction.
