I BELIEVE the letter by Archie Currie (HAS, Mar 24) about the Chancellor penalising pensioners to merit resounding support.
I agree that we should meet (as the only correspondents on the subject) to discuss forming a “common-sense Pensioners Party”.
Such a group would need a better name, of course.
Political manoeuvring, scheming and power simply ignores the definition of democracy – government of the people by elected representatives.
Political parties dominate our parliamentary system, concerned (initially at least) with an ideological view of life. That’s one view but not the people’s view.
This is simply not right.
Mr Currie pointed out the strength of pensioners through numbers.
I believe it also to be the case that we vote more, relative to other demographic groupings.
Please telephone me Mr Currie, on 07805-525239, and, of course, all similarly interested wise elders.
Ian Harrison, Darlington.
