HUNDREDS of tributes have been posted online for a schoolboy who died.

Dominic Meacher, 13, was pronounced dead at The James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough, after paramedics were called to his home in Stanwick, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, on Sunday evening.

An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at Northallerton Coroner’s Office yesterday.

Dominic was a pupil at Richmond School, where his father, Richard, teaches PE.

His brother, Jason, is also a pupil at the school. Headteacher Ian Robertson said: “Students, staff, governors and parents are extremely saddened by the tragic loss of year eight student Dominic Meacher.

“Dom was a talented boy at sport, and very popular with many friends, who will miss his fun-loving personality around school.

“The school is supporting students as they grieve for a really lovely young man.”

A Facebook group, RIP Dom Meacher, was set up on Monday to allow friends and classmates to leave condolence messages.

One read: “I was honoured to have known such a smart, funny, brilliant boy. Now the time has come to say goodbye, but we will never forget him.”

Another said: “Rest in Peace Dom. I never met a little boy as sweet, happy, caring and kind as you were. Sleep well little star.”

A third read: “Sleep tight.

You’re the brightest star out there tonight.”

Influence Church, in Victoria Road, Richmond, has set up an informal session for Richmond School students who want to talk to someone away from the school about their grief.

Richard McGuinness, a youth pastor at the church, said: “As part of our youth church, we look after 60 to 70 children aged 11 to 16. Many of them were fellow pupils or friends of Dominic, so we want to open up our doors to anyone who wants to talk to one of our youth workers.”

The church will be open to students from 3.30pm to 5pm tonight and on Thursday.
