AT the end of is ten-day trip to the Caribbean and Brazil, Prince Harry has admitted there are lots of times that he and his brother Prince William wish they were "just completely normal".

Of course, the princes enjoy extraordinary privileges and are fortunate in many ways.

But it is also right to pay tribute to the contribution they have made to a more positive public perception of the Royal Family.

Thanks to the princes, and the Duchess of Cambridge, there is a freshness about the Royal Family which is proving to be a huge asset to Britain.

It is no coincidence that when The Queen began her Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Leicester last week, she chose to take Kate with her.

Prince William's wife has settled into public life with natural charm and has attracted new attention to the royals.

And Prince Harry's performance in Caribbean and Brazil has been a public relations dream.

From joking with Usain Bolt, playing volleyball and rugby on the beach, and mixing so comfortably with local children, he has played a blinder.

He will never be "just completely normal" - but he has a down to earth way of engaging with people that is increasingly a pleasure to see.
