A 53-YEAR-OLD man was killed after a road accident, at Worsall, near Yarm, today.

The accident occurred on Back Lane at around 9.10am.

Police say the man, whose name has not been revealed, was from the Stokesley area and was driving a silver Toyota Land Cruiser.

He was the only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

At the time the Toyota, which was towing an Ifor Williams flat bed trailer, was travelling on a country road heading from Kirklevington towards Picton.

The road was closed for several hours following the collision.

Traffic Constable, Lee Hauxwell, of North Yorkshire Police's Roads Policing Group, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen the Toyota prior to the incident to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Police also dealt with a serious accident on the A684 between Bedale and Crakehall.

The collision involving a Ford Transit van and a Mazda occurred at around 9.35am.

The driver of the Mazda, believed to be a local man, was taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital.
