POLICE are currently at the scene of a serious single road accident on Back Lane, Worsall, near Yarm.
The accident, at 9.10am today, involved a Toyota 4x4 which appears to have collided with a tree.
"Back Lane is currently closed while police examine the scene," a police spokeswoman said.
"We are not yet in a position to give any details of the casualty or the extent of their injuries."
Meanwhile, North Yorkshire Police are currently at the scene of a serious accident on the A684 between Bedale and Crakehall.
The collision involving a Ford Transit van and a Mazda car occurred at around 9.35am today.
"The driver of the Mazda, who is believed to be a local man, has been taken to Darlington Memorial Hospital," said a spokesman. "The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time but they are believed to be serious."
The road is expected to remain closed for some time as officers investigate the collision.
