Police were called to a pheasant shoot this morning after a man was accidentally shot in the head.
Officers attended along with ambulance crews and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and found a 45-year-old man with "grazed gunshot wounds" to the side of his face.
The incident happened during a local pheasant shoot near Woodhouse Lane, Strensall, near York, at about 11.30am.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: "Polioe investigated the incident and the wounds are accidental wounds from a fellow shooter."
The injured shooter, who lives locally, was taken by ambulance to York District Hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the cause of the shooting and will be speaking to the rest of the shooting party and checking firearms licences.
