POLICE today appealed for information over the whereabouts of firearms stolen in a house burglary.
It follows a break in at a house in Chilton Moor, Houghton-le-Spring, on Wearside, yesterday.
Police received a report of the burglary at the house, in Avon Crescent, at 2.44pm.
It was discovered a gun cabinet in the house had been forced open, and two shotguns and two rifles were stolen.
The shotguns were said to be 12-bores and the rifles were .22 specification. It is not thought any shotgun ammunition was taken.
A police investigation is underway and the Northumbria force today appealed for information from anyone who may know anything about the break in or the whereabouts of the stolen firearms.
