A MAN has died after suffering serious head injuries following an assault outside a Middlesbrough pub.
The victim, 42-year-old Spencer Freeman, was attacked just after midnight on Sunday outside The Grenadier, Trimdon Avenue.
He was taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment and police initially described his condition as serious. He died earlier today.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident, a 31-year-man and a 20-year-old from the Thornaby area, remain in custody.
A Cleveland Police spokeswoman said: "The man, who is from Middlesbrough, was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a serious head injury and his condition is described as serious."
