A MAN has been arrested over allegations of outraging public decency following complaints over his behaviour on a train.
The 20-year-old man is alleged is have inappropriately touched himself as he sat opposite two women on a train travelling from London to Newcastle.
The incident happened at about 10pm on Monday February 7 between York and Newcastle and was reported to a train guard, who alerted police.
The man arrested, who is understood to be a student in Gateshead, has been bailed by British Transport Police, pending further inquiries.
PC Andrew Cook, investigating officer based at Darlington station, said: "We have so far made local enquiries into the incident and have arrested a man at the scene.
"We now need anyone with information, who hasn't already spoken to us, or who may have seen this man on the same service prior to York to come forward."
