A 38-YEAR-OLD man is in a critical condition in hospital after an attack outside a city centre bar.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which took place at 11.40pm last night outside Sergeant Pepper's Bar on Vine Lane, Newcastle.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said the 38-year-old victim was assaulted by another man and suffered serious head injuries.
He was taken to Newcastle General Hospital for treatment and his condition has today been described as critical.
