THE family of a teenager who died suddenly at the weekend have paid tribute to their “bubbly and vivacious girl”.

Camilla Irvine, from Newton- le-Willows, near Bedale, North Yorkshire, was found unconscious at a friend’s home in Scorton, near Richmond, on Saturday.

Efforts to revive her failed and she was pronounced dead at the Friarage Hospital, in Northallerton.

The 16-year-old, known to family and friends as Milla, was a student at Richmond School.

In a statement released yesterday by North Yorkshire Police, Milla’s parents, Wendy and David, with her younger brother, George, said: “Milla was a bubbly and vivacious young girl who lived life to the full.

“She had a wide circle of friends, was caring about everyone she knew and was passionate about art and fashion.

“Milla’s loss will leave a massive hole in not only our lives, but in those of her many, many friends.

“We would like to give heartfelt thanks to the many people who have shown us so much support and love at this difficult time.”

The family has asked that earlier reports that Milla died following a party be clarified.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said: “Milla did not die at a party, as has been reported in some parts of the media, but at a friend’s home.”

A post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death has taken place and an inquest was opened and adjourned on Tuesday.

Milla, who had a part-time job as a waitress, had hoped to pursue a career in the fashion industry.

She joined Richmond School in September, after completing her GCSEs at Ripon Grammar School.

Ian Robertson, Richmond School headteacher, said staff and students had been shocked by Milla’s death.

He said support and care was being offered to those close to her.

Mr Robertson said: “Camilla was a bright, wonderfully cheerful, outstanding art student who will be missed by her friends and teachers.”

Friends have continued to leave tributes on social website Twitter and the Facebook group set up in the teenager’s memory.
