A COUPLE who line-danced their way to love have tied the knot as a North-East park’s first wedding was given a country and western theme.
Bernard Evans, 61, married 45-year-old Margaret Boyes at the first wedding to be held in South Park, Darlington’s oldest public park yesterday.
The couple, who got together at a line-dancing event, brought the Deep South to the wedding service.
The couple, both from Darlington, were married in the bandstand, followed by the signing of the register in the Victorian park’s clock tower.
All guests were dressed in cowboy attire and country and western music was played at the ceremony, with the theme continued at the reception at an annual country and western event in Croft Working Men’s Club, Hurworth.
The couple, who met four years ago, are members of re-enactment group Lone Star and country and western music club The Painted Wagon.
South Park has only recently been licensed for civil ceremonies, either inside or outside.
