Sorry I am only posting this now, I have just got back from a three day trip around India with my fellow students and was unable to find an internet café.

So I am sure you have heard about the bridge to the main venue collapsing and the apparent state of the CWG Village. I have been unable to get into the village itself as I have not yet received my accreditation, this is supposed to be happening on the 28th (was originally the 25th) However I can say that from what I have seen I will not be surprised if the stories are true.

As I said previously I have seen one of the buildings and it did look half finished which was worrying. India itself is a very unhygienic place, there is litter everywhere, we actually had to ask someone where we could find a bin and he took the litter and threw it on the floor!

In my opinion the people of India are unorganised we have been here 11 days and still do not know what is happening. We have been given our sport that we will be covering, I will be covering the netball and hopefully one other, I will not find out this until the games begin. We are pretty much just waiting around to hear things which is becoming very annoying, its as though the people in charge of the games don’t even know what is happening themselves.

Word is that the English team have arrived in Delhi but will not be entering the village until the 28th, so for now they are staying in a hotel. I went to the entrance of the village this morning and got talking to some of the Indian press who told me that they were not allowed to take cameras in with them. Very suspicious if you ask me, has the CWG committee have something to hide?

A few athletes have pulled out of the games due to the poor standards of the village and possibly more will follow. Many people are worrying that the security for the games is low and that everyone will be at risk. However, after trying my best this morning to enter the village I was turned away and asked to move away from the entrance. This is promising although if the Games were not receiving all the negative media I might have possibly been allowed to enter.

As I said earlier I have just came back from a three day trip and when we came back to Delhi everything was much quieter. Normally on a day out in Delhi it is guaranteed that you will be approached by a ‘beggar’ asking you for money, food, water especially by young children. On our arrival back to Delhi it’s as though they have all disappeared, you usually see them on the streets sleeping, crying, and begging. Word is that they have all been moved by the police to another place before the Games start, I personally don’t know what to make of this.

There is nothing else really that I can comment on at the moment, not until I receive my accreditation which will then allow me to enter all venues and have a closer insight to what is actually happening and see if there is any truth in the stories we are hearing which I am most certain there is.
