NORTON get the chance to put some daylight between themselves and the rest of the Durham Senior League relegation pack today when they travel to play a Marsden team struggling to keep their heads above water.

But Jason Huitson and Dave Kennedy miss this game with Ben Duncan and Patrick Mitchell handed their opportunity.

Marsden have both Ben Ali and David Ditchburn back and will be hoping new overseas man, Indika Senaratne, will spearhead their survival plans.

At the other end of the league South Hetton, minus skipper Neil Young, play at Felling who are unchanged, and Boldon, still having to cope without Chris Ellison, entertain Eppleton.

And Boldon is the venue tomorrow as the League representative side take on the President’s Trophy holders, North Staffs and South Cheshire, in a semi-final tie.

There looks to be only one result at Kimblesworth today where the Durham County League leaders take on rock bottom Etherley. However, the home team have a couple of holiday absences, whilst Michael Crane and Shaun Rudd return to boost the visitors.

Esh Winning and Evenwood continue to wait for a Kimblesworth slip, but in the meantime they need to maintain focus. Esh are at Langley Park today, both sides unchanged, whilst Evenwood continue to be led by James Alderson in Chris Coatsworth’s absence, and they play at Ushaw Moor.

Form side Seaham Park have the opportunity to make a mark on the Durham Coast League title race today.

They entertain secondplaced Bill Quay and victory would raise their own hopes of a late bid for honours. Park hand a debut to new signing Simon Brown, and Mickey Thorpe returns, however leading wicket taker Chris Varley is in sunnier climes. The Quay have their principal bowler, Dave Brown, back in harness.

Leaders Boldon CA kept their treble hopes alive with a midweek Frank Lees win, and they travel to bottom club Peterlee with David Tate back, and Gary Critchley coaxed out of golfing retirement for his seasonal debut.

Broken finger victim Gary Johnson will be out of Swalwell’s NTSL title chasing team for a while, his place taken by Simon Clarke for the visit of Ashington who have Scott Thornton and Ian Sharkey back in contention for places.

Shotley Bridge attempt to pick up the pieces following last week’s defeat, but they are now playing catch up with Swalwell. Bridge take an unchanged side to Chopwell.
