THREE mobile phones used by fugitive gunman Raoul Moat have been found, one of which was handed in by a member of the public in Rothbury, Northumberland.

Northumbria Police also said that a further two people, a man and a woman, were arrested yesterday afternoon in Blyth on suspicion of assisting him.

Detective Chief Superintendent Neil Adamson said: ''There have been some very positive developments over the past 24 hours.''

This morning the Cragside estate, a popular National Trust property situated on the edge of Rothbury, was closed to the public whilst armed police searched the area. A police helicopter hovvered overhead.

Police yesterday released CCTV images of Moat at a branch of B&Q, in Newcastle, on Friday, hours before he shot his former girlfriend, Samantha Stobbart, and killed her boyfriend, Chris Brown, before shooting and injuring PC David Rathband.

Officers said the images, in which Moat has a distinctive Mohican-style haircut and wears a tight-fitting orange tshirt, should help the public identify him.
