On 8th May 2010 1,400 women participated in Teesside Hospice’s 2010 Starlight Stroll. This year’s sponsored 7 mile walk started from Redcar and Cleveland College and saw women walk from Marske and back.

Once again the support has been overwhelming, we are currently counting up the money but we are hoping to raise £120,000!

The fun kicked off when walkers arrived from 8pm to register and were greeted by entertainment from local drumming group – Ee by Drum and Fire Eaters. After a poignant one minute silence in memory of loved ones a sea of women began walking at 10pm.

Each year we are surprised by how quickly walkers complete the route.

This year was no exception with Ann Fox and Sharon Neasham being the first walkers to return at 11.43pm, closely followed by Cousins Rachel, Melanie and Stephanie Kirwan who were walking in memory of their Grandmother Margaret Kirwan. All walkers were back by 1.15am.

In order to raise lots of money walkers were asked for a £10 entry fee which entitled them to a walking pack, limited edition Starlight Stroll t-shirt and well deserved medal.

This year a Memory Wall was available to walkers to remember loved ones.
