IT is a cinematic monster from the worst of nightmares, but one man has always dreamed of becoming the Predator.

Bird and pest controller Jason Didlick has spent more than £1,200 to have an authentic costume made for him – and will use the disguise to help him raise money for charity.

Mr Didlick, 30, of Esh Winning, near Durham City, will draw attention to himself to collect money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, in an attempt to help his halfsister, who has the lifethreatening illness.

Mr Didlick said: “I am quite shy, but when you have a costume on, no one knows who you are and you can do things you would not normally do.

“I am hoping to attract attention to myself to raise money for the charity, which funds research into a cure for cystic fibrosis, which my half-sister, Jessica Didlick, has.

“Jessica’s four sisters from her mother’s previous marriage have done a lot to raise money for her and I thought I ought to do something.

“I have always been a fan of the Predator films and saw a costume someone had made for them on the internet.”

Mr Didlick approached a props and costume maker in Cheltenham, who took five weeks to make the latex creation.

He said: “I had to go and to pick it up personally, because it is not the sort of thing you can send in the post.”

Mr Didlick has devised a 12-volt fan in the head to help keep him cool.

Jessica, 18, who lives in Wolverhampton, said: “It is fantastic that he has got the costume and is raising funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

“Hopefully he will raise a lot of money to help find a cure.”

Cystic fibrosis is the UK’s most common lifethreatening inherited disease. It affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with mucus. It makes it hard to breathe and digest food.

Mr Didlick, accompanied by two friends dressed in combat gear, will collect money at the Lloyds bar, in Durham City, from 7pm to 11pm on Friday.
