A WOMAN in remission from a rare form of leukaemia has pledged to support a fundraising walk at a beauty spot.
The Macmillan Cancer Support walk will take place in Hamsterley Forest, near Bishop Auckland, on Sunday, April 25.
Allison White, of Newton Aycliffe, will be unable to walk the nine-mile route, but will support those taking part.
Miss White, 33, is recovering from four doses of chemotherapy, and although she is in remission, she is still weak.
Her illness meant she had to leave her job at a pharmacy, but said a grant from Macmillan has eased her financial worries.
She said: “There are many forms of cancer, but Macmillan covers every cancer, and not just terminal either. Whatever support you need, they are there 24 hours a day.”
Last year’s Hamsterley walk raised £7,000. It is suitable for anyone who is moderately fit.
Registration costs £5 and people are asked to raise at least £25.
