Three people have been arrested after a search of an industrial storage unit in Grangemouth, Teesside.

The operation was carried out by Cleveland Police and Central Scotland Police after a warrant was issued in Cleveland under the misuse of drugs act.

Officers searched the industrial storage unit and a house in Bo'ness, West Lothian.

Three people - two men aged 42 and 40 and a 25-year-old woman - have been arrested and taken to a police station in England for questioning.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police said on Friday night that the search of the Grangetown unit had been carried out by officers wearing protective clothing.

"This was a precautionary measure due to the anticipated presence of a number of chemicals in the storage facility," she added.

"There is no danger to the public and there is no threat to industry or commerce in the area.

"A protective cordon has been put in place around the premises. This is also as a precautionary measure.

"The operation is not terrorist related."
