GREEN-fingered schoolchildren have helped design and plant a park flowerbed.
Pupils from St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School, in Richmond, spent a morning working with district council staff in the town's Friary Gardens.
The planting scheme, which includes marigolds, begonias and cordylines, originated from a fabric collage created by the youngsters in March.
Gary Hudson, council grounds officer, said: "This is the first time we have asked local schoolchildren to help us in the gardens, but it certainly won't be the last.
"The design was a challenge as it features a river and fish, but we've been creative and tried to represent the design as closely as possible."
The 28 year three pupils were joined by district council member champion for young people, Councillor Sheila Clarke, who presented them with certificates for their efforts.
St Mary's advanced teaching assistant, Karen Syms, said: "It was lovely for the children to see their ideas become reality and play a part in the planting."
Schools wishing to get involved next year are asked to contact Gary Hudson on (01748) 829100.
