A VILLAGE devastated by flash flooding yesterday took another step on the road to recovery.
Hawnby, near Helmsley, launched a marketing campaign to encourage visitors back to the village.
A group of businesses has developed an information leaflet called Explore Hawnby.
A website has also been set up - www.explorehawnby.com - to promote the area as a visitor destination.
The project has been carried out through Ryedale Tourism Initiative, which is delivered by Ryedale District Council.
Louise Lunn, business liaison manager for the authority, said: "We are delighted to be able to support this initiative to promote such a stunning part of North Yorkshire."
The scheme has won funding from European sources and regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.
