PUPILS were so inspired by a presentation by charity workers at their school assemblies that they have organised a fundraising event to support the cause.
Lorraine Coulson and Alistair Baker, from Water-Aid, presented an assembly to year ten students at Woodham Community Technology College, in Newton Aycliffe, last week.
They told children how women and children in Africa walk up to 20km a day to collect water that is not even safe to drink.
The talk spurred the youngsters on to organise a non-uniform day for the entire college with all proceeds being donated to WaterAid.
