A FAMOUS author's son will provide an exclusive insight into his father's life for visitors to a tourist attraction in the region.

Jim Wight's recollections can be heard on new recorded guide tapes about the World of James Herriot, in Thirsk, North Yorkshire. The tape contains memories of his father, Alf Wight, as an author and vet, his time at 23 Kirkgate - the home of the attraction - and the making of All Creatures Great and Small.

The attraction will be launched on Monday and visitors will have to pay an extra £2 in admission.

The guides have been supplied by Interpreter International, which has also supplied audio guides to Windsor Castle and The Vatican.
