SEAHAM Park were rewarded for being able to stage one of only two games played and victory over Peterlee propelled them to the top of the table.

With rain always threatening it was a double bonus for them when Peterlee batted first and they wasted no time despatching the visitors back to the pavilion for only 86 runs.

Peterlee put up a strong fight and occupied the wicket for 35.3 overs but the home attack was dominant.

Alan Dick was the most successful bowler and his seven wickets cost him 33 runs in an excellent spell of 17.3 overs, five of which were maidens.

The Park attacked from the start of their reply which lasted fewer than ten overs. Andrew Worthy scored 54 of his 57 runs in boundaries, crashing three sixes and nine fours before being run out as his side coasted to a sevenwicket win.

Boldon CA conceded pole position with a seven-wicket defeat at home to Washington.

William Plender returned four for 19 from seven overs and Philip Hooper three for 12 from six overs as Boldon stumbled to 66 all out from 26 overs.

Although Washington won losing three wickets, it took them almost 18 overs to accumulate the meagre target and they were indebted to Matthew Jane who had a six and four boundaries in an unbeaten 26.

The other four fixtures at Castle Eden, Houghton, Ryhope and Easington were all cancelled without a ball being bowled.
