THREE games were cancelled and of the three which did commence, two were timed out when they were interrupted by the weather.

There were no problems at Ponteland, where the full 100 overs were bowled and 513 runs recorded.

Swalwell romped to 276 for seven from their 50 overs with Steve Magoffin the first of two batsmen in the match to score a century.

His super innings of 106 included three sixes and 12 boundaries and he was backed up by David Scott with an unbeaten 52 and Stuart Patterson (42).

John Gardner delivered 15 overs, returning four for 53, but the seven-man Ponteland attack found the going difficult.

So too did Swalwell's six bowlers but despite an heroic attempt Ponteland were only 237 for six when their 50 overs expired.

Jim Healey batted throughout, hitting two sixes and five fours in an undefeated 102 and his firstwicket partnership with Lloyd Anderson had the home side in the driving seat.

But after scoring 60, Anderson, who has made an outstanding start to the season, was run out and from then on Swalwell regained the initiative.

Simon Clark was the pick of their attack with four for 63 in 11 overs.

Greenside had Benwell and Walbottle teetering on the brink of defeat but couldn't claim the last wicket as the match was timed out.

Paul Carrick almost swung the game with five for 17 in an inspired ten-overs spell but a top-scoring 34 by Simon Prudhoe held up the home attack.

Runs flowed when Greenside batted first and declared following 44.4 overs with 237 for eight on top.

Opener Darren Stephenson struck three sixes and 11 boundaries in 92 compiled from 106 deliveries and Glen Taylor contributed 59 with three sixes and five fours.

Five of the eight wickets were taken by the ever reliable Graeme Angus who conceded 61 runs in his 15 overs.

The game between Lintz and Tynedale was also timed out with the home side 126 for seven, still 34 runs short of a winning margin.

David Nevin held the innings together recording seven boundaries out of 40.

Earlier, Graham Clennell found the wicket to his liking when he was introduced as third-change and in 7.3 overs, he sent back five batsmen for 16 runs.

Richard Darling raised hopes of a big Tynedale score when he recorded one six and ten boundaries in 65 but the introduction of Clennell changed the course of the innings which ended following 45 overs.

In Division Two, Consett lost by 47 runs at Alnwick for whom David Wright (41) and Paul Bateman with an unbeaten 56 top-performed in a total of 160 for seven. Although Alan Foster made a useful 32, the Steelmen were sent back in 44.4 overs for 113. Gareth Bateman celebrated his first game as captain returning three for 28 and Wright took four for 36.
