A DARLINGTON actor had support from home when a critically-acclaimed play opened on Broadway.
The proud parents of Jamie Parker, 26, were in the audience on the opening night of Alan Bennett's The History Boys in New York, the latest stop in the play's world tour.
John and Ann Parker, along with Jamie's sister, Emma, and his girlfriend, Deborah Crowe, crossed the pond to offer their support.
Mrs Parker said: "He is having a wonderful time. It is a fantastic opportunity for a young actor. It is a huge, huge success and it is one of the highest grossing plays the National Theatre has ever had."
The play also visited Hong Kong and Wellington, in New Zealand, as part of its world tour after opening in London.
