TONY Blair announced sweeping changes to the Government today after a bruising night of local election losses.
John Prescott will remain as Deputy Prime Minister and Labour Party deputy leader but under fire Home Secretary Charles Clarke has lost his job.
Downing Street said Mr Clarke turned down a series of other jobs after the Prime Minister told him of the decision.
Mr Clarke said he did not agree with Mr Blair's decision but entirely accepted his right to make it.
Geoff Hoon is made Minister for Europe with a seat in the Cabinet and John Reid replaces Charles Clarke as Home Secretary.
Margaret Beckett becomes Foreign Secretary replacing Jack Straw who is Leader of the Commons.
The big winners are Ms Beckett and Mr Hoon who said: Weve had these elections - time now for a new team to take over.
Obviously, whos in that team and who does what is a matter for the Prime Minister.
