ROUND the world solo yachtsman Alex Thomson will be the guest speaker at a fundraising evening at York Racecourse on Friday, April 7.
He first achieved glory in 1999 when, at the age of 25, he became the youngest skipper to win a round-the-world yacht race.
The evening has been organised by Pocklington District Lions, which is aiming to raise £5,000 for local charities. It has been sponsored by property investment and development company The Helmsley Group.
The event will also feature an auction of promises.
