A PROPOSED sports development in a Teesdale Village has overcome its first hurdle.
Evenwood and Barony parish councillors have secured £12,500 from Teesdale District Council for a £50,000 sports project.
If the remaining funding is found, an all-weather multi-use games area will be built near Evenwood's Welfare ground.
Evenwood and Barony parish councillor Bob Bolden said: "We have got some of the funding and we are still working with various bodies to find more."
It is hoped the funding will be in place by March.
