A MINI enthusiast has been backed by a business park to complete an Italian Job for charity.

Steve Poad, of the Prince Bishop's County Durham Mini Owners' Club, will join hundreds of drivers to tour Italy.

He has been given £350 towards by Lingfield Point business park in Darlington, and will sport their logo on his Mini 40 during the event later this year.

Money will go to the NCH charity, which supports vulnerable young people.

The event takes its name from the cult film starring Michael Caine, and participants have the chance to take a spin on the famous Turin Lingotto rooftop test track which was used in the movie.

Mr Poad said that he was grateful for the support of Lingfield Point.

He said: "The Italian Job is a fantastic way to raise money for a very worthwhile cause while enjoying a wonderful Italian holiday with hundreds of other people who also understand the attraction of the mini," he said.

Eddie Humphries, Lingfield Point estate manager, said: "Steve and his colleagues from the Prince Bishop's mini-club were kind enough to bring some of their cars to the recent opening event at Memphis, Lingfield Point's latest development.

"We are delighted to be able to support the fantastic fund-raising efforts they undertake in Italy each year and wish Steve every success in his endeavours."
