YOUNG gymnasts vaulted, flipped and cartwheeled their way to gold at a recent competition.

Seven schools fielded teams in the Hambleton and Richmond Area Gymnastics Competition, at Hambleton Leisure Centre, in Northallerton.

Northallerton College swept the board, winning team, pairs and individual golds in the over-13s section.

Jennifer Crewdson, 15, from Maunby, walked away with golds in the over-13s floor, vault, combined floor and vault, pairs and team competitions. Sharing her success were team mates Julia Brown, 15, from Northallerton, Ruth Cook, 15, from Kirby Sigston, Abbie Lawrence, 16, from Leeming, and Sacha Thompson, 15, from Scruton.

Julia took silver in the combined vault and floor competition, while she and Ruth took joint bronze in the floor. Julia also took silver in the vault.

Jennifer and Ruth took gold in the girls paired sports acrobatics competition and Sacha and Ashleigh Gaynor won silver.

Northallerton College student Matthew MacLean took gold in the boys' individual combined floor and vault contest and the boys vault.
