A COUPLE whose son died in a car accident soon after passing his test have talked to students about road safety.
It was part of a Drive Alive event at Risedale College, in Hipswell, near Catterick Garrison.
Police, firefighters and road safety officers talked to year 11 pupils about the dangers of driving and riding motorbikes.
During the day, students discovered how police investigated crashes.
They also learned about the consequences of drink-driving and took part in role play where they shopped for a car.
At the end of the day, pupils talked to the parents of Daniel, a young man who died three weeks after he passed his test.
Road safety officer Andrew Stanton said: "Daniel died on his way home after a night out with his girlfriend.
"There were no drugs involved, nor drink and his speed was not excessive.
"It was lack of experience that caused him to leave the road."
Drive Alive events are being held at secondary schools across the county.
