SIX days after being suspended, the future of Hartlepool United boss Martin Scott is likely to be resolved today.

The club has held a thorough investigation into events which followed the home defeat to Blackpool at Victoria Park on Saturday, January 28.

A meeting is expected to be held today at the ground when all evidence will be looked at.

Scott was ordered to stay away from the club and was suspended from his duties last Wednesday.

Paul Stephenson, Pool's youth team coach, was handed temporary command while the investigation took place. He was in charge for last Saturday's draw at Rotherham.

While Scott's situation remains uncertain, Stephenson will stay in command.

However, former Pool boss Chris Turner is understood to be keen on a return to Victoria Park and he would prove a popular choice to keep Pool in League One and lift them out of the relegation zone.

Stephenson, who assisted Scott in a temporary capacity at the end of last season, admitted he enjoyed the chance to take command of the first team at Millmoor.

Whether he remains in charge for Friday's League One game at Victoria Park remains to be seen.

But he admitted: "I totally enjoyed the day and the experience on Saturday, it was great. I nearly lost my voice, but that's part of it.

"In the situation I was in, the game really gets you emotionally and I'm an emotional person, but I would like to think I am a very positive lad.

"And I think you have to encourage players all the time. Too often we are too quick to knock people, but when they do well, how often do we tell them?

"I told them all that when someone has done something good, tell them and encourage them.''

The former Newcastle winger gave starts to Michael Maidens and Stephen Turnbull as part of a young midfield, after being in that situation in the past.

"The kids will learn very quickly in this environment and this situation we are in,'' he said. "As a kid, I was 18 in the Newcastle United team and we were at the bottom.

"And, honestly, it didn't affect me as much as it did the older players.

"I had to prove a point and make a career and young lads just want to go out and play football and enjoy it.

"Some of the older lads who really know what this is all about worry about it a bit more.''

Adam Boyd wasn't involved at the weekend, but he is in line to play for the reserves at Hull tomorrow as he builds up his match fitness.
