WORK has started on a £4m shopping development in Durham.
Seven units are being added to the Dragonville park to provide an additional 53,000sq ft of retail space, with parking for up to 285 people.
Discount retailer TK Maxx has confirmed it is opening a store on the site.
The group is also opening a store in Darlington, in April.
The Dragonville park already houses an Aldi and Matalan store.
Steve Carlin, regional director of developer London and Cambridge Property Limited, said: "Dragonville is benefiting from significant investment, both from the public and private sectors.
"Our scheme will provide an increased range of shopping with a wider choice of goods to the local community and further consolidate Dragonville's position as a modern, vibrant district centre."
