NORTH Durham MP Kevan Jones has encouraged his constituents to make sure they keep warm this winter by claiming any grants they may be entitled to.
Many people in North Durham may be able to claim grants from the Government's Warm Front scheme, which provides up to £4,000 to help the less well-off install adequate heating and insulation in their home.
Mr Jones said: "In the past few years, the Warm Front scheme has helped over a million people ensure their homes are properly heated.
"But many more people could be benefiting, and I would encourage anyone who thinks they might qualify to call the free hotline."
The scheme is available to homeowners and private tenants who are in receipt of benefits, or to people claiming tax credits whose income is below £15,050.
