THE Christmas holiday could not come soon enough for a military policewoman from Crook, who is based in Northern Ireland.

Lance Corporal Clare Mizen enjoyed the chance to spend some time with her parents and friends when she was back home on leave from Thiepval Barracks in Lisburn, County Antrim, where she serves with 6 Battalion Royal Military Police.

Clare, 20, studied at Wolsingham School and Community College before joining the Army in 2004.

This is her first tour in Northern Ireland.

She said: "I didn't know what I was letting myself in for. But it's really nice and hopefully I'll get a chance to take a good look round.

"It was good to see my folks and get a chance to meet up with some of my friends. There's always a lot to talk about."
