POLICE are hoping to bring some belated Christmas cheer to a little boy by returning his lost present.
A 2ft-long truck and trailer, a present from his grandparents, was found in Bluebell Close, Gateshead, at 10.30pm on Christmas Eve.
Gateshead Police's lost property officer, Peter Armstrong, said: "There was no wrapping paper on it, but there was a Christmas label that said 'To Liam, from Nana and Granda Scott'.
"We have checked to see if it had been reported stolen, but it hasn't and no one has reported it missing.
"We do not think the boy had received the present because it was found on the night of December 24.
"There is a little lad out there who didn't get this gift and we would love to get it to him.
"Hopefully, his grandparents or parents will get in touch."
The toy, made by Buddy, is black and green and has the words Buddy L Racing along the side of the truck and trailer.
Anyone who can help is asked to call the lost property office on 0191-454 7555 ext 64135.
