BOWLERS from as far afield as Nottingham and Blackpool joined teams from the region in an annual festive competition.
Sixteen teams competed for the cash prizes in the High Fives Competition at Darlington and District Indoor Bowls Club.
The teams of five, which comprised a pair and triple, played six games at the Morrison Centre, North Road.
The Christmas contest was set up to provide a competitive challenge during a quiet period of the season.
Club secretary Ken Tinkler said: "We basically just want to provide some competitive action over Christmas.
"It is a quiet time in the domestic calendar for the bowls club."
During the two-day competition, teams were at the centre for 12 hours trying to win the £1,100 cash pot.
Mr Tinkler added: "Teams are divided into pairs and triples to play six games against the other teams competing.
"There are two points for winning and one point for a draw. If the points are level, shots difference comes into play.
"That is often the decisive factor."
First place secured £500, with prize money going to the top four teams.
