AN Avon lady who has given thousands of pounds to many different good causes has now decided that charity must begin at home.

Since she started selling cosmetics in 1991, Lesley Davy, from Bishop Auckland, has donated at least £10,000 from her profits to charities.

But now she needs to use the money she makes to support her son, James, who is studying mechanical engineering at Northumbria University.

She said: "James was only six when I started but now he is at university I need the money for him. I am letting my customers know and I want to thank them for their support over the years because they have helped a lot of good causes and it has been much appreciated.
